Information and Inspiration
for
German Shepherd Enthusiasts
and
Friends of Gatorland K9 International

Ted Hoppe has been a student of the German Shepherd since 1975, when as a boy he became interested in the training of German Shepherds for Police K-9 and personal protection. After joining the USAF he became a Miitary Working Dog Handler at Lackland AFB, Texas, and then at Homestead AFB as Patrol dog handler.

Ted has also trained dogs professionally at various kennels in South Florida. In 1993 he purchased Baron's K-9 Kennel (the same kennel he trained at in the 70's). There he trained, sold and imported protection and police dogs for many different individuals and agencies. He also traveled to Holland, Germany, France and Eastern Europe to purchase dogs for police and security agencies.

American Street Ring was founded by Ted Hoppe, and has been holding trials since 1997. Many of its members are professional protection dog trainers. ASR promotes a higher standard of training for trainers both professional and amateur.

Ted and Dawn Hoppe now own and operate Gatorland K-9 International, a full service Importing custom dog training service. 30% of their Imported German Shepherds go to Police K-9 work or Service Dog work and 70% go to families as protection companions.
